Size-related returns
About the brand
Founded in 2011 by Guillaume Gibault, Le Slip Français started with a wager that sounded like a joke and became a movement: make underwear entirely in France, and say so, loudly. The brand's wit, tricolore branding, irreverent campaigns, a name that means exactly what it says, carried a serious industrial project: a network of French workshops producing briefs, boxers, socks, swimwear and knits, keeping textile savoir-faire alive on home soil. A decade on, Le Slip Français is the reference for made-in-France essentials, a direct-to-consumer brand with a fiercely loyal community and a price point that reflects local production honestly. That honesty raises the stakes of every parcel: when a customer pays a premium for French-made underwear, the product has to be right the first time, because in this category more than any other, there is rarely a graceful second chance.
Challenge
Underwear is arguably the hardest returns problem in fashion. Hygiene rules make exchanges awkward or impossible for many lines, so a mis-sized parcel isn't a logistics cost, it's often a write-off and, worse, a disappointed customer whose first experience of the brand was a product they couldn't wear. The fit mechanics are unforgiving too: elastic waistbands and stretch fabrics mean flat measurements say little, cuts vary between briefs, boxers and trunks, and body shape matters more per centimetre than in any outer garment. Le Slip Français also carries a proposition-level risk: the brand's entire promise is quality you can trust, and sizing roulette quietly undermines it. The team wanted guidance that could handle stretch-fabric calibration seriously, and, true to the house's character, refused to take it on faith. Kleep would be trialled on live traffic, over months, and judged on what the numbers and the customers actually said.
Solution
Le Slip Français ran Kleep through a four-month live test across its collection. Each product was calibrated individually, with the stretch behaviour of the fabrics and the distinct fit logic of each cut, brief, boxer, trunk, and the wider range of socks and swim, modelled rather than averaged. Shoppers reach their recommendation through a short questionnaire or Kleep's two-photo body scan, building a measurement profile in seconds; the interface is white-labelled to the brand's playful codes, so the guidance sounds like Le Slip, not a vendor. Recommendations return in under 250 milliseconds, keeping the flow effortless on mobile, where much of the brand's community shops. Four months is long enough for novelty effects to wash out and for the metric that matters most in this category, parcels that never come back, to show its true level. The test was the pitch; the data would be the decision.
Results
The four-month test ended the way the best trials do: with a long-term commitment. In February 2025, Le Slip Français renewed with Kleep for the long haul, a decision made on measured performance in the least forgiving returns category in fashion. Just as telling was the qualitative signal: customers left positive comments about the sizing guidance itself, unprompted, a rarity for what is usually invisible infrastructure, and a meaningful one for a brand whose community takes its purchases personally. For a made-in-France label where every avoided return protects both margin and a hard-won reputation, first-time-right sizing is not a convenience; it is part of the promise. The pattern matches Kleep's wider portfolio, deployments typically cut size-related returns by 20 to 50%, but underwear is where that arithmetic bites hardest, and where Le Slip Français chose to keep Kleep on the strength of its own evidence.
